What is the story behind Cat-O-Lodge?

Our mother company:
The beginning of the Dogmopolite story goes back to 2010. The Labrador of the grandmother of founder and General Manager, Peter Gardos, was regularly walked and taken care of during the day by a young dog lover, Robert. This was the year that Peter decided that canine services can be provided in Hungary also under more professional circumstances – comprehensively, and, until then, from a single provider. The brand name Dogmopolite was born, as was the first version of its homepage and a tiny team of walkers. The first colleague, Robert, was walking and transporting dogs, our first dog boarding “facility” was the house maid’s room adjacent to grandmother’s villa in the second district of Budapest, under Branyiszkó út 5., on 20 square metres. We quickly outgrew this little place, which was followed by a 120-square-metre house in the same district. From there we again had to move quite soon, and opened the first dedicated dog boarding facility in district 10. After that came the opening of our first grooming salon in district 6, followed by our second dog boarding facility, this time on the Buda side, in district 11. Still this year we opened our second dog grooming salon in district 2, then, one year later in district 3. In 2016 we opened our fourth dog grooming salon in district 14 Budapest, the the Sugár Mall. In 2018 we opened our third dog boarding facility in Szentendre. In 2019 year we moved our dog boarding facility from district 10 to Szigetszentmiklós, a 900-square-metre large building with a 4000-square-metre garden. We managed to expand the scope of our activities throughout the years. In addition to dog training, our dog grooming salons offer an ever wider array of beauty services. We are also proud to have a dedicated driver colleague – for over 6 years now. In 2013 our company joined the Florida-based IACP, the same year we also joined the Austrian Grooming Association – which dissolved in 2016. That same your we joined the British PIF (Pet Industry Federation). Our goal is to maintain our market leading position in Hungary – for this, as well as for the comfort of all our dear clients, we do not regret a single dime (or Forint, in our case) to invest in anything that makes us even better.

Cat-O-Lodge
The idea of Cat-O-Lodge came in 2020 – we wished to establish a set of cat boarding facilities in hitherto unseen flexibility and professionalism, where our dear guests can feel at home – away from home. During the design of our facilities we put great emphasis on the needs of our dear feline guests: Outside runs in Szentendre on real grass, artificial grass areas in Buda, and over 400 sqm of playground and private suites in Szigetszentmiklós characterize our state-of-the-art designs. We are the only company in Hungary to operate three cat boarding facilities, thus ensuring a high degree of flexibility for our clients.
